iTunes to go DRM-free from today?

Apple is apparently on the verge of offering unprotected iTunes Store music from all major labels, if recent reports are to be believed.

A French news source has it that Apple is planning a major launch in time for Christmas that will see DRM copyright protection removed from tracks published by Sony, Universal and Warner on 9 December.

The same source has also reported that Apple will follow the move with a promotion dubbed the "12 Days of iTunes" that will see UK users - as well as those in France and Germany - download an "unlimited" amount of content just after Christmas.

We will keep you informed.
