Analyst predicts high-def Nintendo Wii coming soon

Well, soon-ish

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter thinks that a high-def update for the Nintendo Wii is not far off.

In an email to GamePro, Pachter stated:

"Consumers may hope for improved graphics, and my guess is that Nintendo will comply."

"In 2 or 3 years, commodity prices for graphics processors and CPUs may decline to the point that a High Definition Wii could be introduced."

"If so, Nintendo will likely introduce one."

So not exactly concrete and not exactly coming imminently, but a positive sign for gamers wanting more than the Wii's current 480p resolution offers.

Nintendo has previously touched on the possibility of a hardware update for the Wii.

VP Perrin Kaplan was quoted as saying: "Sure, absolutely. You'll see the ways in which we do that".
