AMD taking on Intel in netbook market

Rumour has it that AMD is going to take on Intel's Atom processor and deliver a rival for the netbook market.

The new CPU is promised to beat Intel's chips in terms of both battery life and video performance.

In fact, AMD's VP of advanced marketing, Par Moorehead, told reporters to expect between 8 and 9 hours of battery life out of a netbook utilising his company's CPU.

The company has not, however, released details of this miracle CPU, but Electronista is suggesting that to improve video performance, it may well use the expertise of ATI, which it recently purchased.
