iPlayer content available before TV shows have aired
The iPlayer is soon to get a pre-booking tool that will allow viewers to select programmes from the schedule up to 7 days in advance of them airing on TV.
They will then be able to download the programmes for viewing after the content has been on the Beeb.
Users will then have 30 days in which to open the file for viewing.
The BBC Trust has agreed for the pre-booking to be available on the iPlayer catch-up service over the internet and will not be available over cable TV initially.
The BBC Trust opted to approve the plans following a 28-day public consultation, which launched on 30 June.
