If you haven't heard of Westfield, it's safe to say that if you live anywhere in the south of England then you soon will.

We reckon it's going to feature large in most traffic reports from today onwards. Shepherd's Bush was never the most accessible place in London if you were driving, but by now putting the largest city-centre shopping centre in Europe there too, it could get ugly.

And bearing in mind the current economic climate, opening such an enormous temple to consumerism might seem like folly. But the guy in charge is upbeat. He's an Aussie and they rarely see anything other than the bright side, wouldn't you agree.

All that said, it looks amazing and the improvements that have been made to public transport in the area are something to make the whole city envious.

Maybe we should get this lot to do the Olympics...?
