YouTube adds click to buy buttons

Google has announced some new YouTube services in the States, aimed at finally monetising the site.

Viewers will now see buttons under YouTube videos to offer a chance to buy music, movies, TV shows, concert tickets and other products featured or mentioned in a clip.

The links go through to Amazon.com, iTunes or other signed-up online retailers who will give the video site commission for a completed sale.

EMI and Universal Music are tied in for songs whilst EA has joined up for games.

There were also new features for users of the site unveiled. "Theater View" has been created for watching full length films, that's designed to look like small movie screen with stage curtains on the sides and "dimmable" lighting.
