Oregon Scientific releases ATC5K action video camera

Oregon Scientific has announced the ATC5K action camera, developed with the likes of adrenaline junkies and sports fanatics in mind.

The big selling point to this rather bizarre looking video camera, is the fact it is waterproof to 10 metres and shock proof, as well as being able to act as a stills digital camera too. It records full sound, and around 2 hours of footage with a 4GB memory card, so there's plenty of time to film your sporting genius.

A nice touch is that the camera is multi-mounting, so if you take part in a sport that requires the use of both hands, you can fix the ATC5K to your helmet or handlebars and work it using the included remote control. What's more, the 1.5-inch LCD screen means you can watch your exploits back instantly, without having to wait to get to a PC or TV for playback.

Just as its predecessor the 3K could, the ATC5K can work as a webcam when you're not out and about, with an improved range of view of 53°.

There's no worries about running out of power while you're out either, as the camera runs purely on AA batteries, so keep a stash with you and you should be fine.

There is an internal memory of 32MB which can be expanded by SD card up to 4GB. It features USB ports and comes with all the cables you need to get your videos uploaded to your PC.

The camera will set you back around £149.99, but we can imagine the bragging rights to your exploits captured on camera alone will be worth every penny.
