Orange has signed its first video-on-demand content for its coming-soon IPTV service that is due to launch later this year.

The deal, which will see online downloaded film rentals, is with Disney-ABC International Television.

Subscribers to Orange's service will get access to films from Disney, Touchstone and Miramax.

Tim Pearson of Orange stated:

"The Disney-ABC International Television deal is the first of a number of content deals we’re announcing and demonstrates we’re gearing up for our launch of digital TV later this year."

"We intend to offer our customers a great range of the best movies on demand for which this agreement with Disney is a great step."

"We’re committed to developing a digital TV service that will allow our customers to get more from their TV by putting them in control of the best quality entertainment with the flexibility to watch what they want, when they want, how they want."

Exact dates for the launch, or subscription costs, have not been revealed.
