Kodak launches £40 EasyShare C513 digi-cam

Sticks 5MP CMOS sensor in, charges $79

Kodak has launched the first digital camera in its EasyShare line which feature the company’s new CMOS image sensor technology as opposed to the more expensive route of a CCD.

This change means that the price of the modestly specced offering is a near-disposable low of just $79.95.

The entry-level camera offers 5-megapixel resolution and a 3x optical zoom lens. It touts a 2.4-inch LCD screen, has Digital Image Stabilization and can record video.

The 5.0 megapixel KODAK KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor was designed for use in the C513 camera, and claims to provide excellent colour reproduction and dynamic range with low electronic noise.

The Kodak EasyShare C513 will be available in the States for $79.95 (less than £40) in August.
