Apple admits to graphics issue with new MacBooks

Owners of Apple's new MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pros are reporting bugs that cause flickering and graphics corruption during media playback and web browsing.

QuickTime playback of video files is particularly said to be affected with "washed out" graphics showing on the laptops, launched in February.

Other reported problems include flickering images in Safari and "graphical glitches" when scrolling in a browser.

Apple has formally acknowledged the issues in an email response to one customer and has said it is investigating the issues behind the reported problems:

"Apple has received reports similar to the behavior you are describing and we are investigating those reports", the company said.

"Further information will come in the form of a Knowledge Base article, Software Update, or Software Release."
