There could soon be a strum off between two of the biggest players in the music world.
Not we're not talking record labels - but - on one side - the musical gamers' favourite, Guitar Hero, and on the other, legendary guitar maker Gibson.
The two companies have been collaborating for years, with the game developer even modelling its Guitar Hero controllers on Gibson models, but now a patent wrangle is on the cards.
Gibson says the game violates a 1999 patent for technology to "simulate a musical performance".
But Activision has countered this and asked the US District Court for Central California to declare Gibson's patent invalid and also to stop it from seeking any damages. The case continues...
