Konica Minolta has launched two new cameras today both offering 5 megapixels resolution: The DiMage Z20 and the DiMage Z5. However the company is yet to confirm a price or launch date.

DiMage Z20
The first of the two is the Z20, a model that replaces the Z10, offers an 8x optical and 4x digital zoom and a 0.5-second start up time. Konica Minolta is also boasting a long battery life and suggests you'll be able to get 450 frames from the four AA batteries included.

Product Highlights include:
• 8x optical Mega Zoom and 4x digital zoom combine for 32x total zoom
• Rapid AF with Predictive Focus Control
• Fastest startup in its class*1—the DiMAGE Z20 is ready to shoot in approximately 0.5 second *1
• High performance lens and 5 Megapixel CCD with CxProcess™ III high-quality image processing technology
• Four AA alkaline batteries power the DiMAGE Z20 for an amazing 450 frames, the most in its class*2
• Macro mode for close-ups as near as 1 cm from the subject
• 14.5MB (approx.) internal storage allows recording and playback without removable storage media
• 26mm Wide Angle shooting (35mm equivalent) with the optional Wide Angle Converter ZCW-200
on (CIPA).

The DiMage z5

Moving on from the Z3 the camera has added a hot-shoe, and a larger LCD display (2in) and continues to use the Minolta's Anti-Shake system.

The DiMAGE Z5 has Rapid AF, the fastest*1 Autofocus system for digital cameras with predictive focus control. Focusing in a mere 0.2 second (approx.) at wide angle and only 0.3 second (approx.) at telephoto, it's ideal for capturing any subject, moving or static.
