American airliner JetBlue has announced along with Yahoo and BlackBerry maker Research in Motion that it plans to offer free, in-flight, Wi-Fi web connections for laptop and BlackBerry users.

The service, which will mean passengers can no longer use the flight to kick back watch a movie and enjoy a Bloody Mary will allow passengers access to customized Yahoo mail and Yahoo instant messenger services on their laptops or to access corporate e-mails on Wi-Fi-enabled versions the smartphone.

The service however won't allow regular surfing.

According to Rim the first JetBlue flight offering the service will be on Tuesday 11 December.
