MSN and Yahoo both buck ideas up with mobile browsers

It looks like the mobile internet browser industry is hotting up.

The whole market could perhaps be seen to be galvanised by the threat of Apple's full-fat Safari service on the forthcoming iPhone.

Amidst the news of the beta release of Opera's Mini 4 and an LG phone with a Google hot button, MSN and Yahoo have both announced updates to their mobile browser offerings.

MSN Mobile has launched in the States and Yahoo's Go for Mobile 2.0 will be coming out of beta in the States this week, while a UK-specific beta version will also launch.

Yahoo Go 2.0 is a Java application that will be soon be pre-loaded on new devices from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and HTC.

It can also be downloaded to handsets, and promises to be faster than ever before, better for email with the ability to read more types of attachments, gives access to Yahoo! Mail folders and has improved map support.

The revamped MSN Mobile offers news, features, sports info, and access to email, search, maps and instant messaging all on one page.

MSN Mobile is a portal site and has a tool which resizes and optimises web pages to suit your model of mobile.
