General Dynamics Itronix GoBook MR-1 - smallest, lightest, ruggedest
General Dynamics Itronix has announced the European launch of its full-featured, fully rugged computer in the "ultra-mobile" category.
Perhaps a little OTT for the office, it's designed to meet the portability and durability needs of industrial, commercial, military and government customers - it's a tough little sucker.
The GoBook MR-1 is a two-pound notebook measuring 4.3 inches by 6 inches, with a 5.6-inch screen, it runs full Windows XP Pro and will be available with Vista by the end of the year.
The tiny GoBook's ruggedness is evident from the inside out. It has shock-mounted internal parts, impact absorbing bumpers and can withstand extremes of temperature, a sealed keyboard for protection against dust and humidity and will be compliant with some HazLoc (hazardous locations) standards.
Offering WLAN, GPS, 3G as well as other connectivity options, it's also secure with a fingerprint reader and removable hard drive.
The GoBook MR-1 base configuration will be generally available this in September for approx £2618.
