There are a few things in life that are always true: bus lanes never have buses in them; you'll always spill red wine the first time you wear a new shirt; Christmas number one's are always pants; oh and there's no such thing as something for nothing.

This site illustrates that last one perfectly.

we7.com allows you to legally download a music MP3 for free.
Yes, free.
Zilch.
Nada.
Gratis.

But when we say free, we mean in the monetary sense.
You see, it's not free of what can only be described as some of the most intrusive advertising you'll ever come across. Brands pay for a message at the beginning of your download so that the artists still get paid and the law remains intact.

If you want the track ad-free, you have to pay for it.

Not sure it'll give the illegal file-sharing sites too much to worry about just yet, but it's a step in the right direction.
