Over the next two months Onkyo will launch seven new high quality home cinema receivers for the UK market, priced from £200 to £1400.

Claiming to be first to market with home cinema receivers suitable for next-generation high-definition disc-based media, such as Blu-ray and HD DVD, which feature high-definition lossless audio formats, the new units are certainly next-gen friendly.

Integrated onboard decoding for Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, DTS-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio will be featured on all models from £400 upwards, with the first, most affordable model in the range becoming available at the end of June.

All the new models will feature 1080p-compatible HDMI 1.3a inputs/outputs ("Pass-Through" type on entry-level models, repeater on models from £400 upwards) as well as Audyssey microphone-based auto set-up (Audyssey 2EQ on models up to £800 - Multi EQ XT auto-set-up thereafter).

The first three models to be released are as follows:

A powerful 5 x 130 Watts A/V receiver which combines five channels of amplification, 5.1-channel processing for analogue and digital multi-channel audio and a comprehensive array of inputs and outputs including HDMI pass-through switching (two inputs and one output).
