Phone recycling website relaunches

Mopay is relaunching to help people recycle their old mobile phones and give back to charity.

The simple service that just takes the mobile details from you through the website will find a way to recycle the handset. Users just need to send the phone using a freepost address and will receive the cash when Mopay receives the device.

Rather than receiving money, the customer can request a chosen charity receives the cash instead. Currently Mopay helps ChildLine, Help the Aged and WWF.

With so many phones renewed a day and networks considering offering handset free tariffs this is a way to ensure your handset is going to a good home.

"An estimated 1700 phones are thrown away in the UK every hour which is a serious waste of resources and harmful to the environment", commented Simon Walsh, Co-Founder, Mopay. “Consumers need to become more aware of the environmental impact of not recycling old handsets.”
