Oscar ceremony bans cameraphones

The Oscars has taken a dim view of mobile phones this year and has enacted a total ban on cameraphones.

This complete ban includes the Motorola MOTORIZR Z3, which was going to debut at the ceremonies.

Pocket-lint reported that the mobile phone company was promising to give out custom models of the phone at the awards to the top 25 nominees in directing and acting categories.

It was to be given out in a package reminiscent of a classic Hollywood dressing room door, complete with a personalised star with the category and name of each nominee.

However, The Academy has issued a statement to say that Motorola isn't an official sponser and isn't affiliated with the ceremony, "...nor will a nominee even be allowed to carry this type of phone at the Academy Awards".

The ban is likely to protect buyers of Oscar night content deals, as video clips and images from the night will make their way across the Internet.
