View still images in high-def with the Panasonic DMW-SDP1

It can be frustrating having a great TV display without being able to use it to its full HD capabilities, which is why Panasonic has devised the HDTV Photo Player DMW-SDP1.

You simply connect the device to an HD-ready or HD TV and slip your SD or SDHC memory card in the slot to view your images at 1080i.

Panasonic insists that the SDP1 is different from all other photo viewers because it includes the Lumix Venus Engine III image processing LSI, which increases the response time by in reducing the startup time and image-to-image interval.

Viewing options to create a slideshow with different transitions is also available, and there's also a preview mode so that you can search for the image you need on the screen.

It also supports movie playback for video captured with digital cameras as VGA and wide aspect VGA quality, as well as the "high definition motion image" (1280 x 720 at 15fps) that can be recorded by the Lumix DMC-LX2.

A remote control is also included, as is a USB cable for hook up to a PictBridge-enabled printer.

Amazon.com is selling it for $130.
