Sonim XP1 "ruggedized" mobile

The SAS of the handset world?

Sonim XP1

29 May 2007 12:59 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

This new, particularly ugly, handset is so rugged it makes other supposedly tough mobiles look like fashion phones.

It's IEC lP52 rated for protection against water, dust, salt, fog, and humidity, can withstand a 1.65 metre drop to concrete and can operate at temperatures from -40°C to +85°C.

To complete the "grrr" feature line-up it is especially loud, with two speakers, has a large walkie-talkie button, a scratch resistant display screen and big buttons.

It'll cost you £233.83 (link to retailer below) in money terms, what it would cost you in street-cred terms (unless of course, you're half way up a mountain) is harder to gauge.
