Toshiba to launch HD DVD for your car

Toshiba is hoping to take its format war against Blu-ray on the road with the launch of the first HD DVD player for your car.

The new automotive HD DVD player will come with a touch panel LCD that promises to feature new technology allowing it to work in varying lighting conditions as well as being brighter.

The prototype was shown off at the "Automotive Engineering Exposition 2007" with Alpine Electronics.

Both company's say they plan to launch a device next year.
