Fancy "shelling" out on some fine art?

30 May 2007 0:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

Every now and again, a website is suggested to us and we just have to pass it on. This one that will entertain you, appal you and mystify you all at the same time.

There is a woman in America (of course) who sells paintings.
Paintings done by a turtle.
A real one.

A living, breathing, shuffling turtle.

They are a "one turtle, one chick" team apparently whereby, the chick (?!) flings a load of paint onto a canvas and the turtle, named Koopa, waddles through it and creates "complex, vivid, beautiful, and unique" works of, um, art.

You can then buy them on eBay (where else?)
This site, suggested to us, by Koopa's "chick" companion herself is extraordinary for too many reasons to list here, but you will find yourself laughing at it, horrified by it and at some times possibly touched by it.

The devotion of said "chick" to Koopa (the "world's first professional turtle artist") is obvious, and the novelty value should amuse, but we can't help thinking that this poor creature might just be getting a bit tired of wallowing about in Dulux for the entertainment of the aesthetically challenged.

We'll let you decide for yourselves, but it kind of gives us the creeps.
