Kensington has launched two new iPod speakers, the SX 3000R and the FX300 Speaker to Go. Both incorporate audio speaker specialist NXT’s SurfaceSound technology in their speaker panels.
The SX 3000R is very similar-looking to the SX 2000 speaker, but incorporates an FM radio that its predecessor lacked. It comes with a full-function, wireless remote control for easy control across the room, and features the Universal Dock connector for all iPods. If your media player of choice is not an iPod, then you can still use the speakers with the 3.5mm audio input jack.
The FX 300 Speaker to Go, featuring an NXT SufaceSound loudspeaker built into it, looks deceptively like a simple carrying case, but pumps out sound as well.
The case holds an iPod or other MP3 player, as well as headphones, keys and other small items, and protects them from splashes and bumps. Two AAA batteries provide up to 10 hours of playback time; volume and power controls are located on the outside for easy access.
Both products are available now from Kensington’s website (http://www.kensington.com); the SX 3000R is about $170, while the FX 300 costs only $30.
