Microsoft launch anti-spyware and antivirus beta

Microsoft has unveiled two new security tools that users of Windows XP will be able to download for free to clean up PCs of viruses and spyware.

The new beta packages are thought to be Microsoft dipping its toe into the field to see what the response is pre to it launching its own fully functional paid for service later this year.

Both tools can be downloaded from the Microsoft website

Before now Microsoft has left the market for PC security software to specialist firms such as Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro and many others.
