Pioneer goes back to black with LX01 Home Cinema System

Minimal aesthetics, maximal desire

At the same time as launching a new range of plasma televisions, Pioneer has also announced the new LX01 Home Cinema System, a unique surround sound system.

Pioneer claims the LX01 is a complete home entertainment solution. It includes a 250GB hard disk DVD recorder with digital terrestrial tuner, HDMI with 1080p scaling, a dual-drive subwoofer receiver, an LCD touchscreen remote control and separate display, and four distinctive three-dimensional satellite speakers - a speaker design technology that is unique to Pioneer.

With only four speakers instead of the usual set up of five, Pioneer is relying on the technology behind the distinctive three-dimensional speaker design to give cinema-quality audio.

Using the dodecahedron speaker concept (a geometric shape with 12 sides), the speakers deliver an "omni-directional" sound which in theory generates sound fields in all directions, meaning that you don't have to be millimetre precise in where you place the speakers around the room.

Beautifully matching the now characteristic piano-black gloss finish of a Pioneer plasma screen, surely this means it would be a crime to have one and not the other…

Available in October, pricing yet to be confirmed…
