SanDisk's latest CompactFlash cards are the fastest yet, boasting write speeds of up to 40MB per second.
The Extreme IV Line of cards comes in 2-, 4-, and 8GB versions, and are designed with the professional photographer in mind.
To complement the new cards, SanDisk has also released the Extreme FireWire reader that achieves transfer speeds of up to 40MB per second for improved workflow efficiency.
The company is not discontinuing previous card ranges; the Extreme II and Ultra II will still be available.
The advantage of the new cards is demonstrated by the increase in performance with the Hasselblad H3D-39, the 39-megapixel digital back, as the burst rate when using these cards increases from six frames to ten when compared with the SanDisk Extreme III card.
SanDisk is bundling a 4GB Extreme IV CF card with an Extreme FireWire reader for a limited time, and all the Readers come with a 30-day trial of Adobe Photoshop CS2.
A 2GB card starts at €128, while an 8GB card costs €509 (both prices ex VAT). The Extreme FireWire Reader retails for about €69, and the bundle with a 4GB card costs €323.
