Ok, I’ll admit it, we don’t mean the sort of beer belly that takes years of hard work in the pub to make. No, the Beerbelly is a novel takeoff from hydration packs such as the Camelback.
As the website describes it, the Beerbelly is “a removable spare tire that serves a stealth beverage”. The premise is simple – you fill a bladder with the drink of your choice, then attach it to your front with a neoprene sling.
The result is what appears to be a gut. The sling holds it securely to your front (assuming your real belly doesn’t get in the way). To access your drink, you suck through a tube and bite valve just like other hydration packs.
The large pouch opening makes it easy to fill and clean, and because it is housed in neoprene, it feels lifelike to touch.
The guys at Beerbelly tout this as the ideal way to smuggle beers into a game, meaning you don’t have to queue, and you know you have a six pack – literally – in your belly. You can also take the optional extra cold or hot pack to keep your beer cold, or … warm.
The Beerbelly retails at £29.99 and is available in the UK from Firebox.com – although they are sold out! Also check out the manufacturers website at www.thebeerbelly.com
