Yahoo Messenger integrates IM into browser

Yahoo opts to help Messengers without IM software

3 May 2007 14:41 GMT / By Ryan Haynes

Coming to a browser near you is Yahoo's new tool that will allow its instant messaging service in a web browser without the need of IM software.

Also working with Microsoft's MSN, the browser function is designed for someone without immediate access to the IM product, in an internet cafe or using someone elses computer.

The product does not need to be downloaded and can even be used if the standalone software is blocked.

If you are cheeky and want to message friends from work but the company has blocked Yahoo! Messenger this will be an ideal service to get back to chatting.

It's available now, both Google's IM and AOL's AIM Express have chat options for browsers.
