Sony goes small with new carbon fibre laptop

Sony has just taken thinness to another level with a new laptop range that promises to be the size of a men's monthly magazine.

Made with carbon fibre and measuring just over 30cm in length, 22cm in width and less than 2.5cm thick, The new Vaio SZ is one of the thinnest and lightest VAIOs to date. It is also equally impressive on the weight side weighing in at just 1.69kg.

The new model also features a 13.3-inch X-black screen, Core Duo Processor 2.0GHz processor, a DVD RW drive, a 120Gb hard disk, finger print technology instead of log-in and passwords, and a powerful graphics processors for gaming.

The SZ series also features the ability to be switched to a "standard graphics card" mode, giving up to 7-hours of battery life.

The SZ models all feature wireless capabilities, an integrated camera and a microphone.

The notebooks will start from £1099 in the UK. No word on yet to when they will be available.
