No big fuss over HD DVD

Blu-ray sales announcement inspire HD DVD

27 April 2007 10:14 GMT / By Ryan Haynes

The big industry fight that last a couple of years between whether Blu-ray or HD DVD was better seems to have become just as challenging for the public.

At the beginning of this week Blu-ray announced it has sold a million units, and then we receive a statement from HD DVD telling us that they had sold 998,059, yes 2000 short of the million mark. So we know who got there first.

This wide difference in sales between the two player models highlights either confusion or the continuation of the same debate, which is better?

To add further fuel, HD DVD has told us that its hardware across all the boards is outselling Blu-ray (even though they are 2000 down in sales).

There seems to be no real clear winner, with both models launching further titles for consumers. Until Joe Blogs can afford buying the new players we won't know which one wins out fairly.
