Gillette add microchip to the humble razor
Gillette has announced plans to launch a new razor next year that will include a microchip to optimize the performance of the razor by regulating the voltage and frequency of its vibrating blades. Called the Gillette Fusion Power, the new razor is the company's latest invention in its wet razor product line.
Aside from five blades instead of three, the razor will also come with a Low Battery Indicator Light that illuminates when the AAA battery needs to be changed, and an Automatic Shut-off feature that will turn off the razor after approximately eight minutes of continuous operation in case of accidental activation in a bag.
According to Gillette the additional two blades will make all the difference over its M3 Power range, and blades are spaced 30 percent closer together than MACH3 blades.
The blurb continues by suggesting; “The combination of adding more blades and narrowing the inter-blade span creates a “Shaving Surface” that distributes the shaving force across the blades, resulting in significantly less irritation and more comfort. The Precision Trimmer blade, a single blade on the back of the cartridge, allows men to easily trim sideburns, shave under the nose and shape facial hair with control and precision.”
The Gillette Fusion Power will be available in North America during the First Quarter 2006. with the option of a non-technology enabled version also available.
There is no news as yet to whether us Brits will be able to experience the close shave in the UK.
We will keep you posted.
