Iomega are hoping to pip Apple to the punch with a portable device that allows you to take up to 60 films with you wherever you go. The catch? That the new gizmo called the Iomega ScreenPlay 60 GB Multimedia Drive doesn't come with a screen.
Instead the player, which measures 179.0 mm H x 269.0 mm W x 209.0 mm, allows you to plug directly into a television screen via phono or scart cables to view your movies, picture and tunes on your home television.
Films can be transferred to the device via its USB 2.0 socket and control the content via an on-screen menu. The device is also Mac compatible.
Iomega has also included the software for you to compress and transfer your movies on to the disc as well as Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 (PC), Musicmatch Jukebox, FolderShare, and IAB Pro.
Iomega will also be launching a desktop version that will offer 250Gb of storage.
The screenplay will cost £149.99, while the Screen Play Pro will cost £199.99. Both units should be available in September.
