Londoners keen to keep in touch with the office around the Square Mile can do so with the knowledge that they are walking into Europe's most advanced Wi-Fi network.

The new Wi-Fi zone will offer more than 350,000 people who work in and visit the area wireless broadband access throughout the City.

The network has been built and operated by The Cloud, who along with Nokia are offering users access for the first month free of charge.

Using mesh technology, the network currently comprises 127 nodes positioned on lampposts and will evolve to offer 95% coverage across areas owned by the City of London Corporation.

The network allows anyone with Wi-Fi-enabled devices including laptops, PDAs, media players and smart phones such as Nokia's n95 device to access the service.

The Cloud offer a range of prices to access the network from a flat monthly fee to pay as you go tariffs.
