Virtual BlackBerry coming to Windows Mobile 6.0

Software interface to make your smartphone look like a BlackBerry

Research in Motion (RIM) the company behind the BlackBerry has said that it will be launching new software that will let users turn any smartphone running Microsoft's Windows OS into Virtual BlackBerrys.

Moving away from concentrating on hardware only offerings, RIM says it plans to make the application available for all Mobile 6.0 users and once installed will give them access to BlackBerry applications like its email, phone, calendar, address book, instant messages and other functions.

Users will be able to toggle between the Windows Mobile and BlackBerry interfaces instantly, the company said.

The first Mobile 6 handset is expected to be launched later this year on the Orange network in the UK. Orange has yet to comment on whether it will be including the Virtual BlackBerry application on its first line of new handsets.
