ATI has announced that it will no longer be restricting the 512Mb cards for delevopers and has announced plans to allow its partners to release boards with the increased memory to the gaming public. The latest board; the ATI Radeon X800 XL 512Mb graphics card promises better graphics and performance for today's gaming fraternity.
Backed by a wealth of developers including BioWare; Crytek, id Software, inc, Lionhead and Valve, ATI is hoping that gamers will get behind the new card just as the developers have
“New games are intensely realistic and graphics-heavy and the Radeon X800 XL 512MB is designed to maximize their impact by delivering amazing visual quality and performance,” said Rich Heye, Vice President and GM, Desktop Discrete Products, ATI Technologies Inc. “With the Radeon X800 XL 512 MB, gamers will be able to max-out their image quality settings and render highly realistic images without having to compromise on performance.”
The Radeon X800XL 512MB will be available in May in the US, with an estimated streety price of around $449. Individual manufacturers have yet to announce the new chipset however ATI has confirmed that we will be seeing boards from the following manufacturers: ABIT, Connect3D, Gigabyte, HIS, Info-Tek, MSI, Sapphire, TUL and VisionTek.
