Tsunami Appeal donors urged to donate online

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) are urging people who want to donate to the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal, to do so online.

The Committee had said that money donated via its website reaches them far quicker than money donated via other means.

The site has so far received almost £8 million, with more than 11,000 donations being made online every hour.

Websites across the internet are also helping raise money with the big players stepping in to do all they can.

Google, who's homepage is normally sparse has created a link to relevant sites and information on the disaster.

Likewise Amazon is offering customers the chance to donate via its one click order system and eBay is offering the option for people to donate a portion of their profits from anything they sell on the internet auction site.
