Take a hit for the team

The song goes "DJ saved my life", but one American soldier serving in Iraq is changing the words to "iPod saved my life".

Kevin Garrard, a soldier in the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq, was saved by his iPod after being shot in the chest by an insurgent with an AK-47 at very close range.

According to the solider, the bullet struck the iPod and slowed down enough that his Kevlar body armour stopped the hot lead from piercing his chest.

No word from the military as to whether the MP3 player will now become standard issue kit.
