The KND-4: not a robot off Star Wars, but a car

Kia will unveil its KND-4 concept car at the Seoul International Motor Show.

The exterior styling of KND-4 is aimed squarely at the ‘active lifestyle’ brigade – the sort of people who would buy an SUV if they weren’t worried that other people would think them planet killers. The sleek, rounded nose features LED headlights, while flared wheelarches wrap around blingtastic 20in wheels. The pronounced shoulder line, glass profile and sweeping C-pillar give the KND-4 a muscular outline, while the full-width rear screen emphasises interior volume and hunkers down into the LED rear light clusters nicely. Short overhangs and a high ground clearance promise good off-road ability.

Designed for four people with individual seats, the KND-4’s interior is "future-oriented" with floor, dashboard and door trim panels in a metallic finish, highlighted by indirect lighting.

The interior is equipped with advanced gizmodery, including a next-gen AMOLED (Active-Matrix, Organic Light Emitting Diode) display screen with an ultra-wide viewing angle and ultra-high contrast. You also get Bluetooth and Blu-ray technologies along with a built-in hard drive for the stereo.

The KND-4 is powered by a somewhat less sophisticated 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, driving all four wheels.
