Cingular sets date for iPhone availablity

American’s desperate to get their hands on Apple’s iPhone have to just wait another 73 days before they can make their first call on the new device.
Cingular, the mobile phone operator in the US carrying the new handset, has confirmed that the phone will go on sale on 11 June.
The date coincides with the start of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled to be held in San Francisco.
However rumours are still swirling around the internet as to which mobile operator will be offering the iPhone in the UK.
Earlier this week Vodafone became the frontrunner following an industry insiders comments to The Guardian newspaper.
Cingular says that it has had over 1 million enquires for the new phone.
