WEBSITE OF THE DAY - sust-it.net

Major appliances, major energy usage, major savings to be made

23 March 2007 0:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

As much as we're fond of a new gadget, (and boy, are we fond of a new gadget) we're also quite attached this old planet of ours - a planet that we are constantly being told is going to erupt in a gigantic ball of apocalyptic fiery death (or something) if we don't all change our ways.

We like to do our bit, so we're recommending this site which will tell you how much your shiny new telly will cost you per year to run and how much power it typically uses. It rates different models in a league table of shame so you can make smart choices when buying new stuff. With a bit of research your new toys won't end up costing the Earth. Literally.

Oh, and all those of you lucky enough to have the new PS3 might want to give your thumbs a rest from time to time - it's a real power guzzler.
