Fujitsu Lifebook P1610 and B6210 bring Flash SSD to the laptop

16GB and 32GB versions available

Fujitsu today introduced two laptops with built in solid state drives (SSDs).

The LifeBook P1610 and LifeBook B6210 will offer an option for an SSD flash-based replacement for traditional hard disk drives.

The news comes on the back of SanDisk's announcement at CeBIT 2007 that it would be offering company's a 32GB solid state drive to laptop manufacturers, although the two models won't be featuring this specific drive.

The 1kg (2.2 pounds) LifeBook P1610 convertible touchscreen laptop and 1.4kg (3.2 pounds) LifeBook B6210 touchscreen laptop are now offered with two flash-based SSD configurations, 16GB or 32GB.

The move promises faster performance and quicker boot-up time because data access is virtually instantaneous.

Furthermore in addition to the added durability all of this translates to a much faster experience and longer battery life.

The LifeBook P1610 tablet PC is offers a 8.9-inch touchscreen, while the LifeBook B6210 notebook is equipped with a 12.1-inch XGA display.

Unfortunately the company is only offering the new models to parties interested in buying 50 or more. Estimated prices per unit are expected to be around $4000 each.
