Carphone warehouse plots the death of the camera

2 December 2004 7:58 GMT / By Stuart Miles

In attempt to sell more camera phones this Christmas, Carphone Warehouse are offering customers with old cameras digital or not, the chance to trade them in to claim £25 off when they opt to buy a new megapixel cameraphone.

Carphone warehouse will then be donating the cameras to charity.

The chain, which claims it, sells more digital cameras than any other high street store is hoping that those digital cameras will be in phones rather than actually being a camera.

Andrew Harrison, UK Chief Executive explained: “Why would people want to carry around … The end of the camera is nigh.”
