Bluetooth Gateway facilitates media streaming in cars

Use your ultra mobile PC to entertain the kids in the back

Intel and Parrot have teamed up to offer a new Bluetooth entertainment solution to car owners.

The new Bluetooth Gateway is a small hub hidden in the dashboard of the car that then streams audio and visuals from ultra mobile PCs.

The Gateway even incorporates voice recognition and text-to-speech features designed for hands-free calling as well as controlling email, address books, and calendars.

Passengers benefit from the device as audio can be played through the stereo via A2DP Bluetooth; they can also theoretically surf the internet and watch videos.

We're awaiting information on whether or not any car manufacturers are planning to integrate this into their vehicles.

The two companies expect to release the Bluetooth Gateway by the middle of 2007.
