The new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé will make its Euro debut at the Geneva motor show this week, with production of the new model beginning in Goodwood this summer.

The two-door, four-seat convertible is hand-built on an advanced aluminium spaceframe, which requires a staggering 120 metres of welding.

Buyers will be able to specify items such as a brushed steel bonnet and rear teak deck. Luggage is housed within a "picnic boot" – a split tail compartment that opens in two parts giving easy access to 315 litres of space, and provides a comfortable seating platform for two adults when lowered.

The fabric hood is the largest of any modern convertible car and uses five layers of material to insulate the interior.

Power comes from a mammoth 6.75-litre V12 engine, capable of delivering 60mph in 5.7 seconds.
