Sony has announced the pricing plans for its first-party PS3 titles.

Disc-based games will costs £39.99 at launched, which puts them on par with games for the Nintendo Wii, and £10 less than those for the Xbox 360.

Amongst the titles that will be available at launch when you pick up your shiny new PS3 are Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Formula One Championship Edition.

Sony has also said that prices for games that are downloaded via the PlayStation Network will cost between €2.99 and €9.99.

There will also be downloadable content that will cost from €0.99.

Over 30 games will be available at launch. These will be split between those available on disc and via download, and between first- and third-party titles.

In related news, Pocket-lint reported on Friday that the PS3 in Europe will play fewer PS2 games than the US or Japanese models because it won't be using a dedicated chip, but will rely on software emulation.
