YouTube is signing content deals all over the place, with the latest to be announced one with Premiership club Chelsea. It's signed up to make available archive footage as well as daily news on its own branded channel, at Youtube.com/chealseafc.
The channel cannot, however, broadcast live footage due to content deals with television stations.
"Chelsea is the first football club to move into what is clearly one of the fastest growing new media platforms", said Peter Kenyon, Chelsea CEO.
No money was involved in the deal at the moment, but Chelsea may add advertising to its site in the future.
This is a significant deal and means that other Premiership teams will be eager to find thier own video-sharing outlet, whether it be YouTube or another like MSN Soapbox.
The Premier League is currently working with YouTube to take down all the illegal copyrighted content that has been uploaded by football fans. Software, Online, Video on demand, YouTube, Chelsea, Sports Fitness
