Yesterday marked the 105th anniversary of the birth of arguably the finest exponent of landscape photography who ever lived. We feel it deserves a mention. If you've never come across Ansel Adams before, you're in for a real treat. Here is a man who would climb to the top of a mountain carrying all his equipment (and we're not talking about a pesky little SLR here - he used glass plates and large format film) and spend all day waiting for that one perfect shot. And perfect was the word. Even today, photographers marvel at his techniques - his exposures were flawless and his composition breathtaking. But don't take our word for it - check out some of the galleries.
You can buy prints, posters and books here, but probably the main draw is the opportunity to purchase original photographs.
Incidentally, today marks the 60th anniversary of the first demonstration of the Polaroid Land Camera: one of Adams's favourite tools.
