Philips has finally announced the launch date and price for its Skype-certified VoIP phone, the VOIP841.

The company debuted it at IFA in August with an expected launch before Christmas, but the UK is to receive it in March for £130.

The cordless phone is Skype certified, works without being plugged into a PC, and lets you also make calls via normal landline.

Contacts and details of up to 500 Skype contacts can be read on the phone's colour, 64k display, which shows whether your buddies are online.

The cordless phone also includes a handsfree speakerphone, as well as a connection for a wired headset.

Its battery lasts for around 12 hours of talktime, while a choice of up to 15 polyphonic ringtones lets you choose different songs for internet and landline calls.
