Panasonic has launched what it is claiming is the World’s Smallest SD Camcorder – SDR-S10.

The new model measures 1.2 x 2.5 x 4.5 inches in size and features no moving mechanism in the recording section and because of this offers a Quick Start function that allows the SDR-S10 to begin recording just 1.7 seconds after the power is switched on.

Other features include a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD and a Panasonic 10x optical zoom lens.

Those more clumsy than most will also like the shock and sufficient impact resistance measures introduced by Panasonic that means the SDR-S10 can dropped from up to 1.2 metres. The camcorder also boasts a water-resistance design that takes advantage of the water resistance of SD/SDHC Memory Cards meaning you can use it near a pool without fear of damage.

Panasonic are also boasting a grip is designed so that you can stabilise the SDR-S10 by bracing your elbow against the body or as an alternative, the Sub REC button on the camera front makes it possible to shoot with a pistol-grip style all comfortably in the palm of your hand.

The Panasonic SDR-S10 is available from May 2007. No details as yet on price.
